Vereinigte Arabische Emirate: Mehr Frauen im Kabinett

Seit Ende Februar haben die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate ein neues Kabinett mit deutlich mehr Frauen.

Newly-appointed ministers yesterday took oath of office before The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, here at Al Rowdah Palace.

Present at the ceremony were Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.

Also present were Shaikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister for Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, a number of shaikhs, ministers of the new government and senior officials.

The newly sworn-in ministers include, Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Foreign Trade Minister, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Economy Minister, Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Labour Minister, Dr Hadif Jowan Al Dhahiri, Justice Minister, Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Dr Maitha Salim Al Shamsi, Minister of State, Dr Khalifa Bukhait Al Falasi, Minister of State, and Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State.

The UAE President urged the new ministers to work hard and be loyal to their offices, to contribute through the cabinet to the perfect execution of the strategy drawn up by the Vice-President and Prime Minister. He expressed the hope that the strategy would be translated into action to achieve more progress and prosperity for the country. “We repose our trust in you. We, therefore, hope you will stay focused while serving your country and people,” he said.

He also touched on the big boost women’s presence got in the new government. He said the increase in the number of women in the new cabinet reflects the vision of our nation in achieving the participation of more women in the shouldering of national responsibilities and in the nation-building process.

He wished the new government great success. “We, our people and our nation look forward to getting more hard and good work from you for continuous development and progress to greater heights to consolidate the high reputation our country commands at the regional and international levels,” he said.
