VAE: Höheres Budget für Stipendien, Regelungen in Kraft

Der Abu Dhabi Executive Council (EC) erhöht das Budget für Stipendien deutlich. Der Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) wird die Programme und Studienmöglichkeiten in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten (VAE) und im Ausland regeln. Scholarship budget up, regulations in place

The Abu Dhabi Executive Council (EC) has approved an increase in the budget for scholarships and has given the charge to the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec ) to regulate such scholarships and study leaves in the UAE and abroad. The EC, which approved a budget increase of Dh197 million to be spent over the coming four years on scholarship programmes, also announced that Adec will be the regulatory authority for developing the scholarship system. According to an Adec statement, the move is expected to provide world-class higher education system and build local competencies that would meet labour market needs.

Registration is already open for higher education scholarship programmes from June 3 onwards and will continue until June 21, 2012. This programme is available to Emiratis who have scored a minimum of 85 per cent in Grade 12. Current university students who have completed 30 credit hours while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 are also eligible to apply for the programme.

Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Adec Director General, said that the EC decision comes in line with the Abu Dhabi Government Vision 2030 for developing an innovation-based economy through the expansion of the scholarship programmes and identifying its policies.

"The scholarship programme aims to create a stronger alignment between the human capital resources and labour market requirements," Dr Al Khaili said.

Mona Majid Al Mansouri, division manager of Guidance and Scholarships at Adec , said that pursuant to the EC decision, the Adec scholarship committee will develop a strategy and general policy proposals for scholarships, study requests and leaves submitted by all government bodies.
