Centre for evaluation will improve education

The national educational evaluation and examination centre, to be set up following the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said from the current academic year (2011-2012), will be a key in the education process and ensure more accurate evaluation of students, H E Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed bin Nassir al Shibaniyah, Minister of Education has said.

The centre will be an information bank on students' educational performance and will be used to identify the challenges they face. "The results of the evaluation available at the centre will help study the problems in the sector and find solutions," H E Madeeha said.

The centre will be an opportunity for the ministry to utilise international experience and build qualified Omani workforce.

H E Madeeha also said that the Royal Directives to triple the budget for vocational development for teaching staff and related jobs from the current academic year aims to improve quality of education in schools through training programmes.
