Indien: Berufliche Bildung in Goa

Mission to improve vocational training

The state government through the directorate of craftsmen training is set to launch a Skill Development Mission in Goa based on the orders of the directorate general of employment & training, under the Union Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE). The mission will work to achieve excellence in vocational training and prepare plans to meet sector specific skills.

The MoLE in partnership with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) has developed a National Skill Development Policy under which state-level missions are to be constituted under the chairmanship of the state chief minister for effective implementation of the National Skill Development Policy at the state level.

Accordingly, the Goa government has constituted the Skill Development Mission headed by chief minister Digamber Kamat.

The Skill Development Mission will have to devise the policy of skill development for the state, monitor the implementation of the policies, suggest the changes as and when necessary and promote the participation of the corporate sector.

Skill development under the mission will mean imparting acquisition of knowledge, skill and attitudes immediately before, during and between periods of work. The aim of the mission is to generate productive and gainful employment with decent working conditions on a sufficient scale to absorb the growing labour force.
