Die indische Regierung hat beschlossen, öffentlich-privaten Partnerschaften (public private partnership, PPP) zur Durchführung des National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) einzuführen.

Government decided to adopt PPP model to execute National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)

The government has decided to adopt public-private partnership (PPP) mode to execute National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). A senior government official said on May 11, that the programmes will be partly operated by National Skill Development Corporation and Sector Skills Council so as to boost the role of private sector in imparting apprenticeship training to the youth.

Manish Kumar, managing director of NSDC, said on May 11, "World over, apprenticeship is provided by industry. Government is now ceased of the fact that we need to rope in the industry to impart apprenticeship training."

Earlier the government has allocated an amount of Indian Rupee (INR) 10, 000 crores to be reimbursed as a stipend to NAPS. However, due to the lack of active participation from private players, most of these amounts remained unutilized.

"Industry leaders feel a lot still needs to be done to ensure apprenticeship is taken up on a big scale by all industry sector skill councils." "We need to identify two-three critical skills, which eventually become India's trademark and the country's youth benefit from them," said Anil Chaudhry, MD Schneider Electric and member of ILC.
