Die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate stellen für den Bildungsbereich im Jahr 2007 einen Etat von 7,1 Milliarden Dirham (rund 1,57 Milliarden Euro) bereit.


Generous allocations for education, health sectors in UAE

The budget for fiscal 2007 shows big allocations for education, health, creation of jobs for the UAE nationals in addition to starting communication and road projects.

An amount of Dh7.1 billion has been allocated to the general, higher and university education, constituting 33 per cent of the total budget.

The Ministry of Education has been allocated an amount of Dh13.5 million while Dh306.8 million have been earmarked for the projects, thus the total budget of the ministry comes to Dh5,235.1 million, constituting 25 per cent of the budget.

The figure was added due to the replacement and Emiratisation of the members of the teaching staff and opening of new schools and development projects in 2007.

The support for the higher and university education has been enhanced by adding an amount of Dh125.5 million.

The budget also entails the programmes and projects of the country's infrastructure projects. These include listing of Dh100 million for carrying out maintenance and renovation of government buildings and institutions.

An amount of Dh71 million has been allocated for the overseas affair department for purchase and construction of buildings for the diplomatic missions abroad and for maintaining the existing buildings.

The security sector has been supported by allocating Dh51.7 million for completing the buildings and opening departments, police stations and civil defence centres. The Ministry of Justice has been allocated Dh22 million for completing the court and public prosecution buildings.

A sum of Dh434.8 million has been provided for the road development projects, including the Dubai-Fujairah Express Way.

Dh419.7 million have been provided for supporting the social sector development projects, including primary schools, co-education schools and kindergartens as well as setting up of hospitals, health clinics, dentistry and preventive medicine centres in the different emirates.

The Ministry of Interior has been provided a sum of Dh150 million to recruit police and military personnel and beef up the security. An allocation of Dh1545.9 million has been made for the health sector.
