Neue Colleges in Saudi Arabien

King Abdullah approves 17 new colleges

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah yesterday approved establishment of 17 new colleges in various parts of the country, according to Higher Education Minister Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari.

They include a college for design for women in Dammam, a college of naturopathy for women in Riyadh, a college of applied sciences in Yanbu, a college of nursing in Qassim, and a college of administrative and human sciences in Majmaa.

The University of Women in Riyadh will get new colleges for naturopathy, pharmacology, nursing, nursery, and languages and translation, the Saudi Press Agency said quoting the minister.

Three new colleges will be established under the Women’s University in Dawadmi for nursing, naturopathy and nursery. Jeddah will have two new colleges for applied medical sciences and medicine.

Anqari said a new engineering and computer science will be established in Al-Kharj, a college of dentistry in Makkah and a college for basic medical sciences in Dammam.

“The king also approved a department for environment at the college of science in Al-Jouf and a department for cardiac technology at the college of applied medical sciences in Dammam,” he said.

Anqari also announced that children of Saudis working abroad would be given admission at government universities in the Kingdom. “If they want to join private universities and colleges in the Kingdom, the government will pay their fees according to scholarship regulations.”

Royal approvals have been granted for opening research centers at the College of Tourism and Antiquities and the College of Political Systems and Sciences under King Saud University in Riyadh. A research center on birds will be established at King Faisal University in Dammam, and another on diseases in tropical regions at King Khaled University in Abha.
