Mit einer eLearning-Initiative will der Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) weg von traditionellen Unterrichts-Methoden hin zu einer Lehrmethode, die Reflexion, Investigation, kritisches Denken und Problemlösungsfähigkeiten der Studierenden fördert. So sollen die Studierenden jene Fähigkeiten erwerben, die der Arbeitsmarkt fordert.
ADEC's eLearning initiative
H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) said that ADEC is currently preparing an e-learning initiative to provide students with online means of learning in addition to those that are traditionally taught in classrooms.
"ADEC is trying to prepare some high-school subjects to be taught online through ADEC's website," he added.
Dr. Al-Khaili pointed out that this initiative comes in line with ADEC's endeavor to develop education in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through using new and diversified pedagogies to ensure that education is based on reflection, induction, investigation, critical thinking and problem solving away from the traditional way of teaching, as well as to equip students with the necessary skills that will enable them to meet labor market needs.
"Both public and private high school students may take advantage of this opportunity, which would serve as additional learning tool available to students free of charge," Al-Khaili added.
Professor Masood Badri, Head of Research and Planning said that a number of ADEC qualified and efficient teachers will be assigned to prepare record and upload the learning materials and content using the latest technologies, to be accessible to all students. Professor Badri pointed out that ADEC's Research and Planning Office will be developing an e-Learning survey to receive high school student feedback about their readiness and willingness to take some courses or school subjects through online delivery, based on their actual needs. "We will be developing and launching the survey which will be distributed to high school students in both public and private schools across the Emirate," he added.
Professor Badri said that the survey will focus on several questions to be answered by students, some of which include: How often does the student use social media resources? What is the student level in using various computer-based technology activities such as keyboarding, sending & receiving documents electronically, downloading multimedia material, viewing video materials on the computer, etc. "The survey will also rate students overall performance in several subjects and overall effectiveness of using e-learning systems," he clarified.
