A new study by the OECD titled "The High Cost of Low Educational Performance" relates cognitive skills to economic growth. Results show the enormous long-term economic impact of improvements in education.

Responding to the economic demand for qualified skilled labour, the German Employers' Organisation for Vocational and Further Training announced the modernisation of 11 recognised occupations in 2010/2011.

A current analysis by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) shows that not only the level of the school-leaving qualification but also the choice of the training sector has a strong influence on the chances of a fully-fledged employment.
"Good employers offer good career prospects," said Ursula von der Leyen, Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, after Germany's 100 best employers were awarded under her patronage.
A cooperation project between the Ivorian city of Mankono and the German city of Nettersheim will provide technical vocational education and training (TVET) for 50 young Ivorians.
