Investments in education and research form the pillars of Germany's future

The German federal government aims at emerging more competitive and stronger from the economic crisis by achieving its education and research policies. According to the coalition treaty the investments in educcation and research will be raised by an additional 12 billion euros within four years. The German government hopes to thus optimize the framework for the promotion of societal potentials.

One focus of the government measures is to strengthen the professional qualification of young people. Two concrete projects have been supported with 394 million euros in 2010. They aim at improving the professional orientation of pupils and students and at providing modern, state-of-the-art equipment for public vocational training institutions.
