Increasing numbers of trainees with refugee experiences

There has been a sharp rise in the number of foreign trainees who are citizens of the asylum countries of origin Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Syria.

In 2017, the number of newly concluded training contracts exceeded 15,000. This compares to 6000 in 2016 and 1000 in 2015. These are the findings of a special analysis by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training based on vocational education and training statistics from the federal government and federal states.
