Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange funds USA stay for young craftsmen and women

Gaining vocational experience abroad

Young skilled workers up to the age of 24 who have completed vocational education and training are able to apply for a one-year USA scholarship up until 9 September 2022. It will start in the summer of 2023.

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) is entering its 40th year. The scholarship programme of the German Bundestag and the US Congress gives young employed persons the opportunity of a one-year stay in the USA and Germany respectively.

For the junior ambassadors, the year in the USA is divided into two parts. They attend college for four months, then work for six months as interns in an American company. Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange participants stay with host families and get involved in local voluntary work. Members of the German parliament sponsor the programme.

Cultural Vistas gGmbH has been commissioned to implement the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for young, employed persons. The non-profit exchange organisation states that it has been promoting international dialogue and global cooperation for more than 50 years.
