Vocational training in the field of health care

Given the background of the impending shortage of skilled medical care personnel, the corporate group of clinics Vivantes now intends to provide improved vocational training opportunities also for young people holding a certificate of secondary education.

To this end, the group institutes a new vocational training course. "With this vocational training course we intend to directly address also those school graduates, who may have bad results but excel with regard to their social competence", said Ulrich Söding, Head of the Vivantes-Institut für berufliche Bildung im Gesundheitswesen (IbBG - Vivantes Institute for Occupational Education in Health Care).

The new vocational training course of social assistant can be completed within two years. The respective apprenticeship training positions for 2011 are already all allocated. With this proposal, Vivantes intends to close the gap between semi-skilled nursing assistants and nursing staff with three-year specialist training.
