BIBB: Freight forwarding clerks among the top 20 dual study courses

According to the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training's database "AusbildungPlus", 47 dual courses can currently be combined with the training occupation.

The occupation of "Freight forwarding and logistics clerk" is among the top 20 training occupations integrated within dual courses of study. It shares eighth position in the Federal Institute for Vocational Education (BIBB) and Training's database "AusbildungPlus" with "Information technology officer". According to the database, there were 47 dual study courses which could be combined with these occupations as of the end of November 2019.

Three times as many study courses as 2004

One interesting detail appeared in the BIBB evaluation. Increasing numbers of companies are offering training positions for a dual course of study. 18,168 cooperating companies or locations were reported in 2004. By 2019, this figure had increased to around 51,000. Over the same period the number of dual study courses has actually tripled (2019: 1662). And there was an increase of two-and-a-half times the number of dual students, from 40,982 to more than 108,000.

The evaluation also showed that over 70 per cent of all study courses offered were in the specialisms of engineering (595) and business administration (580). For those starting out on their careers, the most popular is the business administration specialism for which 48,868 students are registered, followed by engineering with 26,625.
