Staff qualification - a challenge for the labour market

The economy recovers fast from the severe crisis. This is also true for the labour market. More and more enterprises want to recruit new employees in the course of the next months. In some sectors this will be difficult, though, as companies increasingly complain about the lack of qualified staff.

20 per cent of the companies have problems to hire new staff, according to the current Chamber of Industry and Commerce company barometer. 50 per cent have those problems with regard to some job vacancies, while only 30 per cent have no problems. All qualification levels are affected.

In the future the demographic development will play an even more prominent role in the companies. 43 per cent expect that all occupation groups will have to face the lack of experts.

The most popular measure against the lack of qualified staff is further training. 50 per cent of the companies plans to expand their qualification offers. 35 per cent plan to expand their vocational training measures and 34 per cent want to make it easier for parents to align job and family demands. 20 per cent want to hire more older employees.
