Award: the best German saddler apprentice is Moroccan

Fouad Kilouli is the countrywide best graduate of the 2014 examination class of luxury bag makers - a skilled trade of the saddlers guild. With his development work he now safeguards 50 jobs at a business near Frankfurt am Main.

The Rodgau-based company thus was able to train an expert for the development of suitcases, who was urgently required for ensuring the business's continued existence: "Of course, by having attracted a foreign professional in the person of Mr Kilouli, we safeguard also our other 50 jobs here in Rodgau near Frankfurt. For if we cannot develop suitcases, we cannot continue to sell suitcases."

Fouad Kilouli is currently developing new travel suitcases designed for the smartphone generation. At his workstation he demonstrates a brand-new interior part of a suitcase that will come in handy for the new electronic devices.

Fouad Kilouli had the dream of working as a saddler or maker of luxury bags already whilst still in Morocco. However, this craft is not a trade that is taught in his home country.

The best German saddler specialising in luxury bags of the year 2014 now could easily find occupation in Morocco, yet he wants to remain in Germany. Gratitude towards the company that has provided his vocational training might well play a role in this decision.
