Germany was the official partner country of this year's Worlddidac Asia exhibition and representation was strong with 17 German companies attending. The German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) contributed to the conference programme and presented the advantages of the German dual system of vocational education and training in a keynote address.
iMOVE provided information about vocational education and training made in Germany to numerous visitors from Hong Kong and neighbouring countries at its information stand.
During a workshop, iMOVE presented successful examples of German-Asian co-operation in the field of vocational education and training and informed the attendants about possible ways of striking up contact with German providers of education.
The Secretary of Education Hong Kong, Eddie Ng Hak-kim, officially opened the Worlddidac Asia and highlighted the exhibition's importance for Hong Kong as a gateway to the entire ASEAN region (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and to the People's Republic of China.
Asia Education Leaders Forum
The topic of the 6th issue of the "Asia Education Leaders Forum" convention taking place in the context of the Worlddidac Asia was "Towards Becoming a Centre of Excellence". The keynote address was given by Julia Gillard, the former Prime Minister of Australia.
The expert audience and international decision-makers from all fields of education discussed the latest developments and international trends during numerous panel discussions, seminars and workshops.
