Minister of Education Conducted Working Visit to Berlin, Germany

The Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman met up with His Excellency Dr. Georg Schütte, the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), at BMBF Berlin Office in Germany.

The discussion focused on areas related to education and possible bilateral collaborations were also explored in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) particularly on automotive technology and IT. Both parties shared keen interest towards the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) and how it impacts the curriculum in preparing innovative workforce to meet global demands and job markets in the future.

Also present during the meeting were key representatives from iMOVE and the German Office for International Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training (GOVET) at Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB).

 As part of the working visit, the Minister and delegation visited a number of TVET institutions, industry training centres, and the Chamber of Crafts in Berlin to observe best training practices and apprenticeship in the German Dual TVET system.

Accompanying the Minister of Education during the working visit was Puan Yang Terutama Datin Paduka Hajah Rakiah bin Abd Lamit, the Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Federal Republic of Germany. Also attending was Yang Mulia Dr Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education and officers from Ministry of Education and Brunei Embassy in Germany.
