The new Recognition Act - uniformity of implementation is essential

Recognising the qualifications of people who come from other countries to Germany, to live, learn and work among us, is in all of our interests. Action to ease the recognition process and increase the transparency of procedures was long overdue. Now the German government has introduced a draft bill to the Bundestag for an "Act to improve the assessment and recognition of foreign vocational and professional qualifications" - or Recognition Act for short.

Foreign languages are a must

44 students of the Richard-von-Weizsaecker vocational college in Luedinghausen (Germany) reaped the fruit of their work which had taken them several weeks. They voluntarily registered to obtain the “foreign language certificate by the Conference of Ministers of Education of the Federal States” (KMK certificate) – and did so successfully. The young men and women received their personal certificates at the end of June.

31 pupils of the 7th grade of the HRS and Pestalozzi School in Brake, Lower Saxony (Germany), participated in a career orientation programme of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB).

Competition: "Ideas Initiative Future"

The three winners of the competition "Ideas Initiative Future" – the project group "Schools Network for Education for Sustainable Development" from Grevenbroich, "WERDE WeltFAIRaenderer" ("become a fair changer of the world") from Mainz and "Sustainable Development for All" from Bamberg – were awarded for their sustainable commitment for the world of tomorrow by the German commission for UNESCO and dm-drogerie markt at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on June 3, 2011.

Job market: Project for young people with disabilities shows first success

In March, seven young mentally challenged people successfully completed a "cooperative vocational education and preparation for the general job market" (KoBV) as a vocational training measure in Rastatt, State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Six of them have received a regular employment contract by their training companies.
