Egypt inks deal with KfW Development Bank to develop vocational education

The agreement includes the establishment of two centres of competencies specialised in renewable energy and energy efficiency at applied technology schools in Hurghada and Aswan.

The Egyptian Ministry of Education signed an agreement with Germany's KfW Development Bank to develop and rehabilitate a number of applied technology schools and vocational education schools with  41.5 million Euro.

The agreement includes the establishment of two centres of competencies specialised in renewable energy and energy efficiency at applied technology schools in Hurghada and Aswan and the upgrade of a number of centres of competencies at vocational education schools in Greater Cairo, Alexandria, and Gharbiya, according to a statement on Monday.

The funding is divided into a soft loan worth 20 million Euro and a grant valued at 18 million Euro, provided by Germany, while Egypt will make an in-kind contribution worth 3.5 million Euro.
