EuroSkills – showcasing up-and-coming talent

The "EuroSkills" Championships will take place in Göteborg in Sweden from 1 to 4 December 2016. Half of the 22 young skilled workers representing Germany in 16 individual disciplines and three team competitions are from the craft trades sector. Hans Peter Wollseifer, President of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH), stated: "Our young skilled workers prove their great abilities to the customers they serve on a daily basis. We now wish them every success in the forthcoming competition."

The participants involved have completed their journeyman training and are either working towards a master craftsman qualification or else are fully qualified.

Over the coming months, they will be given extensive coaching by experts with the aim of enabling German crafts and trades to build on previous success achieved at the EuroSkills.

At the 2014 EuroSkills held in Lille, France, Team Germany won five gold, four silver and two bronze medals alongside two "Medallions for Excellence".

During the competition, the German team will be looked after by the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH). A total of around 500 competitors from 30 European countries will be showing off their abilities in 35 different occupations.
