Ghana interested in Vocational Education and Training from Germany

On April 21st 2016 the Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana in Germany, Her Excellency Akua Sena Dansua, visited iMOVE to learn about cooperation with German education and training providers.

The West-African Republic of Ghana showed strong economic growth during the last five years and is considered to be one of the most promising future markets of both the region and the whole African continent.

It was not only the discovery of oil and gas resources near the Ghanaian coasts in 2010 that made this country a popular destination for direct foreign investment.

The Ghanaian economy has a strong textile industry, a growing automotive industry, as well as a rapidly developing information and telecommunications sector. The government relies on solar and wind power to provide energy and supports implementation of renewable sources of energy.

Growing skills-shortage in Ghana

The Ghanaian government is determined to cover the growing demand for skilled workers by developing professional education and training opportunities. The Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana in Germany, Her Excellency Akua Sena Dansua visited iMOVE in Bonn in order to learn more about the opportunities for cooperation with German education and training providers.

The Ambassador was especially interested in the dual system of vocational education and training. There is a great demand for professional training and continuing education opportunities in the oil and gas sector, in industry as well as the crafts and health sector.

The conversation also tackled such topics as delegation trips to Ghana for market research, information trips of business representatives to Germany and a Round Table Ghana.

The first step will be to define the needs of the Ghanaian economy more precisely and to draft a cooperation request for the iMOVE B2B Marketplace.
