Jointly strengthening dual system vocational education and training!

Federal government, industry, unions and federal states forge an alliance.

The alliance partners intend to jointly strengthen the dual system of vocational education and training in Germany and to promote equality of company-based and academic training. Every person interested in professional education should be shown a path that leads to a professional qualification as soon as possible. Here, company-based apprenticeships are given clear precedence.

In the context of this new alliance, the industry aims at providing 20,000 additional apprenticeship placements compared to the placements reported to the German Federal Employment Agency in 2014 as well as 500,000 work experience placements for the purpose of career guidance each year.

The industry has promised to make three offers of vocational education and training courses to every young person who is willing to be placed and has not found a placement by the beginning of the apprenticeship year in autumn.

Together with the federal government, the federal states will modify the transition from school to an occupational career. In future, even more information shall be made available regarding the dual system of vocational education and training as an equal alternative to a university course also at grammar schools.

Moreover, all alliance partners intend to contribute towards a joint campaign for advertising vocational education and training nationwide.
