Lufthansa Technical Training and APFT Maintenance Training sign five-year training agreement

Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT) and the APFT Maintenance Training (APFT) aviation school have signed a contract for the training of aviation technicians in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 23 September. Over a period of five years, about 400 trainees from APFT - Maintenance Training will be trained and qualified as aircraft mechanics (CAT A1) according to EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) specifications.

Dato Faruk Othmann, Director of APFT, said: "APFT through its flight school Asia Pacific Flight Training have been conducting pilot training and now is expanding into Engineering training through its Maintenance training school. We believe that this agreement with LTT will benefit not only the students but the aviation industry in the region as well."

Andreas Kaden, Managing Director of Lufthansa Technical Training, added: "This is a major success for us in the booming but highly competitive aviation training segment in Asia. This long-term contract gives both parties the security they need for their planning and allows the Malaysian aviation industry to benefit from LTT's many years of international experience in technical training programs."

Starting in January 2015, training staff from the LTT subsidiary Lufthansa Technical Training Philippines (LTTP) under Jochen Harms (General Manager) will conduct lessons in theory and practice with the EASA-approved LTT instructional materials and administer the exams as well. LTT experts will also evaluate the exams and issue the certificates.

The training takes place at the facilities of APFT Maintenance Training. After successful completion of the training, graduates can apply with the European Aviation Safety Agency or one of the national authorities for an EASA CAT A 1 license after another 3 years of on-the-job training.

APFT Maintenance Training is an academy under Asia Pacific Flight Training which was set up to provide training towards obtaining a professional pilot's license. The academy is located at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Asia Pacific Flight Training is approved by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia. Internationally recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), APFT has been selected by Domestic and International Airlines as an approved organization for the flight training of their cadet pilots. The academy has been given the status of a private higher education institution (IPTS) by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. APFT is also accredited with the MS ISO 9001:2008. APFT Maintenance Training is set up to conduct Engineering training and Ground Operations training. It is accredited by the Ministry of Human Resource for the training of Skills in Ground Operations.
