Eckert on its way to No. 1 amongst private schools

For years, the privately run Eckert Schools have been setting standards in vocational education and training. Now, the "corporation of knowledge" wants to become the largest private provider of education in Germany.

Already, the campus of the Eckert Schools in Regenstauf near Regensburg is larger than those of most universities in Bavaria with its 5,000 pupils and students. The educational service provision ranges from occupational rehabilitation to company-specific training programmes. In more than 100 different training courses, pupils and students between the ages of 16 and 45 have the opportunity of establishing a basis for their further career advancement or a new beginning.

The "main attraction" at Eckert is the Technical School, where currently more than 2,200 full-time and distance learning students "go to school". "With this, we already are the largest provider of education for technicians in Germany", says Chairman of the Executive Board von Waldenfels. The rate of successful graduations is at up to 98 per cent in the majority of the study and continuing education programmes.

In the past decades, more than 70,000 students have used the Eckert educational service provisions for their career advancement. By now, Eckert Schools can be found in Germany at 35 different locations: in Regenstauf and Dresden as well as in Duisburg, Nuremberg, Freiburg and Munich. The distance learning sector in particular is experiencing a boom. "Student numbers have doubled since 2011", says Rudolf Wagner, Managing Director of the Distance Learning Institute. Currently, some 30 distance learning courses are offered on Eckert's "Online Campus".

The management now aims at becoming Germany's largest privately run educational centre; the service provision is accordingly innovative: it already includes technicians' courses for electro mobility and fibre-reinforced technologies, a training programme for environmental protection technicians for regenerative energy sources and a course for the new occupation of biotechnician. A bachelor study course physiotherapy in co-operation with the Technical University Regensburg is in its preparation phase; the course will be offered to be taken parallel to an apprenticeship.
