Hannover Messe 2015 präsentiert "Make in India"
PM Modi to visit Germany in April for better ties, Merkel to reciprocate
PM Modi's visit in April has been planned to coincide with the Hannover Messe Fair, and its inauguration. India is the partner country of the fair in 2015. US will be the fair's partner country in 2016 while Russia was the partner country last year. The fair, which focuses on Industry 4.0 - a concept billed as the fourth industrial revolution, driven by the internet and smart communication strategies - will be held from April 12 to 17, 2015.
Merkel is set to pay a visit to India leading a large delegation later this year, making 2015 a year where the two countries look to expand their ties - driven by an ambitious agenda that reflects Modi’s pet initiatives of Make in India and skill development.
"The year 2015 will be an important year for India-German ties. India is the partner country in the Hannover fair, which is an opportunity for India to increase its global presence and could provide a fillip to the Make in India campaign," German ambassador to India Michael Steiner told HT.
The envoy said the Chancellor's visit to India would provide another opportunity for the two countries to firm up their ties, where economic vision plays a larger role. A special importance is given in the field of vocational education and training to create industry-institute linkages and provide skilled manpower for various sectors in the Indian economy.
Germany is India's largest trading partner in Europe. German FDI in India between 1991 and 2014 is valued at $7 .68 billion.

Modi confirms appearance at HANNOVER MESSE - his first trip to Germany
A beacon of hope for the nation's 1.2 billion citizens, Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi - in office since May 2014 - is making his
first visit to Germany. The occasion: HANNOVER MESSE 2015.
This
was confirmed on Wednesday, 10 December, by Marc Siemering, HANNOVER MESSE
Senior Vice President, at a press conference in New Delhi. India has been named
the official Partner Country at next year's edition of the world's leading
industrial trade fair.
Together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open HANNOVER MESSE 2015 on the
evening of 12 April, then take part in the traditional opening day tour on 13
April.
India's role as the Partner Country at HANNOVER MESSE underscores
the new Indian Prime Minister's ambitious economic course. Under the slogan of
"Make in India", Modi is promoting the modernization of India’s factories and
infrastructure and greater foreign investment in local production.
Modi
is convinced that production industries form the backbone of the Indian economy,
and to develop that backbone, the emerging Indian economy has an active interest
in German infrastructure, research and technology.
In Siemering's
opinion, "Partner Country India is coming at exactly the right moment. India
will be showcasing itself to the world as a modern, upwardly mobile economic
power, while it simultaneously takes advantage of the opportunities offered by
HANNOVER MESSE to invest in modern technology to strengthen its domestic
economy."
Hannover Messe 2015 to showcase 'Make In India'
At Hannover Messe 2015, the world's largest industrial trade fair,
India will take centre stage as the official partner country. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fair together with Germany's Chancellor Angela
Merkel.
The Hannover Fair, which will be running from 13 to 17
April 2015, is set to give a boost to India's manufacturing sector.
German Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, said: "India's participation as
partner country of the Hannover Messe is of great importance to both India and
Germany. This fair provides the perfect platform to showcase India’s engineering
prowess and reinforce the Government initiatives 'Make in India', 'Skill
India' and 'Digital India'. It also has the potential to boost
Indo-German cooperation, since German world-class manufacturing enterprises and
Indian world-class IT engineers make a perfect match as drivers of industry
4.0."
Annually, the Hannover Fair attracts about two hundred
thousand visitors from across the world, a majority being key decision makers.
China and Russia have been among the partner countries of Hannover Messe in
recent years. Last year, a total number of 5,000 exhibitors from more than 100
countries showcased their products.
The German Embassy is working
closely with the Ministry of Commerce, Hannover Milano Fairs India Pvt Ltd
(HMFI), the Indian subsidiary of the Global JV Company Hannover Milano Global (a
joint venture of Deutsche Messe and Fiera Milano), the Engineering Export
Council (EEPC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to prepare and
promote this upcoming highlight of Indo-German cooperation.
